The Distance Made Him Look Better Than He Was
Here's something nobody tells you about missing someone: your memory isn't a neutral witness. It edits. Give it enough time and distance, and it'll quietly delete the parts that made you leave in the first place, while keeping the parts that made you stay as long as you did.
Think about what actually survives in your head a few months out. Not the wondering-where-you-stood texts. Not the arguments that went nowhere. What survives is the good morning texts, the way he laughed at your jokes, that one weekend that felt like a movie. Meanwhile the reasons you actually left get quieter and quieter, until one day they're barely audible at all — and what's left standing is a much better boyfriend than the one you actually broke up with.
Are you remembering him, or an edited version of him?
That's usually the moment the door opens for "maybe I was too hard on him." Not because anything about him changed. Because your memory did the editing while you weren't paying attention.
So here's a useful test: before you let someone back in on the strength of how much you miss them, try writing down the actual list — not the highlight reel, the real one. The specific things that made you walk away. If you can't remember them clearly, or if they suddenly sound smaller than they felt at the time, that's not evidence he's changed. That's evidence your memory has.
Missing the edited version of someone isn't the same as being ready for the real one again.
Ori looks at your past to see your pattern — not to hold it against you, but to reveal it to you. There are two kinds of patterns: a hidden pattern is the one you haven't spotted yet, still running quietly underneath your choices. A recognition pattern is the moment it becomes visible — when you finally see it clearly enough to do something different. Ori's job is helping you move from one to the other. People repeat themselves more than they think. Almost nothing happens only once.
Ori is weyoga's AI — it helps you see the patterns behind your choices, before they repeat again. If you want to break your pattern, talk to Ori → try it free
